A Large Heavy Weapon

A LARGE HEAVY WEAPON

He lifts a large heavy weapon

Meant for the strength of men

Carrying it upon his shoulder

Representing the weight of his world

Crashing in like a giant wave

Not refreshing but drowning

Conned by those in charge, filled up with drugs

Sent from the colonel above

Numb angry violent like a rush

Picked up and sent twirling

Into the tornado of war

Families murdered

Or gone without a trace, he’s got no place

Lost and orphaned

No other option

Poverty staring like a coffin

So join the militia

First if they don’t getcha

Revenge consumes like a poison

He becomes undone

They start calling him son

He’s trained as to how to get it done

The killing of families children and babies

Mind is a jumble of nightmares

He begins to not even care

Forced to kill he grows numb

Into a stone heart he’s succumbed

But, To them HE comes

The lost boys becoming found

The stolen years given back until there’s no lack

Violent images being washed away with a new day

Burden of the gun is done

Gone is the heavy boulder as peace falls upon his shoulders

A shaky hand, withdrawals hitting hard he becomes a real man

Forgiveness he receives because HE paid the fees

Wholeness becomes him, a heart of flesh replaces the stone cold one

In His hands go all the pieces of what he’s done and seen

Open hands he receives the keys to defeat the enemy

Nightmares unable to sleep, a heap of torment

But, He says you I will keep

Handcuffs come off the wrists as lowered go his fists

Eyes come back alive, smile reappears and gone go his fears

He’s crossing back over the fence to innocence

He’s being reborn out of the war torn mess

He’s trading the AK47 for the kingdom of heaven
